🔐 1. Backup Bank Procedures

A secure safe (the "Backup Bank") holds a fixed reserve of $1,020 in change, broken down as follows:

• 30 Rolls Pennies – $15
• 15 Rolls Nickels – $30
• 15 Rolls Dimes – $75
• 20 Rolls Quarters – $200
• 300 One-Dollar Bills – $300
• 40 Five-Dollar Bills – $200
• 10 Twenty-Dollar Bills – $200
• No $10s, $50s, or $100s are kept in the bank

Procedures:

• The bank is tracked down to exact denominations.
• Employees may purchase change from the bank for register use:
  • All transactions must be logged on the clipboard sheet on top of the safe.
• The bank is counted and reset every Monday and Thursday.
• Never discuss bank amounts or store totals in front of customers.

💰 2. Till Balancing

Each day, the till starts with a set amount of $329, broken down as:

• Pennies – 200 pcs = $2
• Nickels – 40 pcs = $2
• Dimes – 50 pcs = $5
• Quarters – 80 pcs = $20
• One-Dollar Bills – 50 pcs = $50
• Five-Dollar Bills – 30 pcs = $150
• Twenty-Dollar Bills – 5 pcs = $100

Procedures:

• All cash drops must be sealed in an envelope, with coins in a Ziploc:
  • Envelope must include: employee name, date, time, and total amount.
  • Rubber band the coins to the envelope.

📋 3. General Cash Handling Rules

• Never leave the checkout stand unattended unless it is locked and secure (including the front area).
• All no-sale drawer opens must be documented with a reason.
• Tips are not permitted. If a customer insists or refuses change, it goes in the designated "No Change" jar and is logged at day's end.

🕒 4. Start & End of Shift

• Always count your drawer at the beginning and end of your shift.
• Record all totals on the Till Count Sheet.
• Totals must be verified and signed by a manager or team lead.

💳 5. During Transactions

• Announce the total before taking payment.
• Repeat change aloud as you hand it back to the customer.
• Use counterfeit pen to verify $50 and $100 bills.
• Double-check change before giving it.
• Use the fewest bills/coins possible when returning change.
• If a customer refuses change, it goes in the "No Change" jar, logged at close.

🧾 6. Receipts & Voids

• Every customer must receive a receipt – no exceptions.
• Voids and returns must be approved and logged with a brief reason.

⛔ 7. Restricted Actions

• Do NOT make change for personal use or for other employees.
• Do NOT mix personal cash with store money.
• Do NOT carry extra cash in your pockets during your shift.
• Do NOT leave the register drawer open or unattended.

📌 8. Cashier Accountability

• Each cashier is responsible for all transactions made during their shift.
• Any overages or shortages will be reviewed by management:
  • Consistent issues may result in coaching or corrective action.
• If you make a mistake, report it immediately – honesty and transparency are key.
